CONROE, Texas – The ULM Warhawks continued their road trip with day two of the Scrap Yard Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Scrap Yard Sports Complex in Conroe, Texas. ULM (3-5) fell twice on the day, losing in a rematch against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 5-1, and then lost later in the day to UAB, 7-0.
"We didn't hit like we did yesterday and when you come out like we did today, you're not going to win a lot of ball games," head coach Molly Fichtner said.
Game 1: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 5, ULM 1
Both teams started out of the gate slow and stayed scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the third inning, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3-5) had an opportunity to take the lead when they loaded the bases with no outs. Sophomore pitcher Murphy Williams helped ULM gain three straight outs to end the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Islanders struck first when Alexandria Torres came home from first on a Sydney Hoyt double and a throwing error to give TAMU-CC a 1-0 lead.
