ULM Suffers 5-0 Setback at No. 2 Seminoles

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The ULM beach volleyball program opened its 2020 campaign off with a 5-0 setback to No. 2-ranked Florida State when the two teams collided in the Seminole Beach Bash on Friday, Feb. 21.

Florida State (1-0) took the opening set of the match when the fourth-seeded tandem of Payton Caffrey and Liz Waters-Leiga earned a 21-14, 21-11 victory against Aubrey Brooks and Holland Ponthieux. The margin quickly jumped to 2-0 in the match when FSU's No. 5 seeds Lexi McKeown and Keara Rutz posted a 21-7, 21-11 win against Elizabeth Moreland and Katie McKay.

The Seminoles' third-seeded pair of Kate Privett and Maddie Anderson produced a 21-11, 21-10 win over ULM's tandem of Bailey Smith and Abbie Elder.

Florida State extended its lead to 4-0 in the match on court one after Molly McBain and Alaina Chacon defeated the Warhawk (0-1) pairing of Gabby Love and Kayla Gallant by scores of 21-9 and 21-13. The match concluded with the Seminoles No. 2 tandem of Alice Zeimann and Madison Fitzpatrick emerging with a 21-12, 21-12 win against ULM's Grace Convey and Julia Blazek.

ULM returns to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 22 when the Warhawks face Stetson (2:30 p.m.) and Tampa (5:30 p.m.). The tournament concludes on Sunday, Feb. 23 when ULM takes on against TCU at 2:15 p.m.
