STORYLINE –
After going 2-1 on its recent three-game Sun Belt road swing, ULM (8-18, 4-13) returns home to Fant-Ewing Coliseum Saturday, Feb. 22 for a match-up against the Ragin' Cajuns (11-16, 6-10) at 2:30 p.m. The Warhawks are 6-7 at home in 2019-20.

ULM is 8-8 this season when scoring 60 or more points. In addition, the Warhawks are 4-0 when holding opponents under 60 points.

ULM junior guard Michael Ertel leads the team in scoring (16.2 ppg.), 3-point field goals (55) and assists (69). Ertel has scored in double figures in 24 of 26 games, including seven 20-point outings. Senior forward Tyree White has been a model of consistency over his last 11 games, averaging 14.5 points and 6.9 rebounds.

THE STARTING FIVE –
• ULM enters its eighth-straight game without its second-leading scorer (14.1 ppg.) and rebounder (5.2 rpg.), in JD Williams, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury early in the first half at the Ragin' Cajuns on Jan. 25. Williams underwent surgery on Jan. 31 to repair his fractured left ankle.

ULM's starting backcourt of Michael Ertel and Williams had combined to average 29.5 points per game. The tandem had combined to account for 47 percent (560 of 1,200 points) of the team's scoring through the first 19 games.

Ertel is ranked among the Sun Belt's Top 10 in five statistical categories: first in minutes played (37.6 pg.), fifth in scoring (16.2 ppg.), eighth in field-goal percentage (.409), eighth in 3-point field goals made (2.1 mpg.), ninth in 3-point field-goal percentage (.346) and 10th in free-throw percentage (.767). His 37.6 minutes per game rank No. 11 among NCAA Division I players. He has scored in double figures in 31 of his last 33 games (dating back to last season).

• Senior forward Tyree White has scored in double figures in 10 of his last 11 games, averaging 14.5 points and 6.9 rebounds during that stretch. The 6-foot-8, 205-pound White is hitting nearly 50 percent (60-of-121) of his field-goal attempts, including 37 percent (10-of-27) from behind the 3-point arc, and 74 percent (29-of-39) from the free-throw line during the stretch. He has led the Warhawks in scoring in seven of his last 11 games.

White hit 7-of-13 field-goal attempts, including 2-of-4 3s, and finished with a game-high 18 points at Arkansas State, as ULM snapped a 14-game losing streak at First National Bank Arena.

The St. Louis, Missouri, native contributed 10 points (4-of-8 FG shooting) and three assists at Troy. White made 7-of-14 field-goal attempts and finished with a team-high 19 points and nine rebounds (five offensive boards) against Georgia State. He added 10 points against Georgia Southern (5-of-10 FG shooting). White scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds at Texas State and followed with 11 points and seven boards at UT Arlington. He recorded his first career double-double at the Ragin' Cajuns with 15 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. White previously posted 21 points at Georgia State, 16 against Texas State and 18 against UT Arlington.

• ULM has held 24 of its 26 opponents below 50-percent shooting from the field. Coastal Carolina became the first opponent to shoot better than 50 percent from the field against the Warhawks, finishing 34-of-62 (55 percent) from the floor, including 11-of-30 3-pointers (37 percent). ULM also allowed a season-high 93 points at Coastal.

Georgia State shot a season-best 58 percent (30-of-52) from the field against ULM, including 62 percent (18-of-29) in the second half.

By comparison, the Warhawks have shot better than 50 percent from the floor in four games: .538 vs. Alcorn State (28-52), season-high .542 vs. Little Rock (26-48), .522 vs. Troy (24-46) and .521 vs. Georgia Southern (25-48).

• Nine of ULM's 18 losses have come by a combined total of 34 points. The Warhawks led in the second half in eight of those nine losses (at Texas A&M, vs. Grambling State, at SFA, vs. Little Rock, vs. Arkansas State, vs. Texas State, vs. Georgia Southern and at South Alabama). ULM's 10-game losing streak marked the program's longest since an 11-game skid during the 2011-12 season.

• ULM ranks among the Sun Belt Conference leaders in scoring defense (third at 66.9 points per game), field-goal percentage defense (fourth at .416), 3-point field-goal percentage (fourth at .335), 3-point field-goal percentage defense (fourth at .315) and blocked shots (sixth at 3.2 pg.).

P-40 WARHAWK SERIES UNIFORM –
Saturday's game against the Ragin' Cajuns marks the first time ULM basketball will wear its P-40 series alternate uniform. The Curtiss P-40 Warhawks constituted the principal armament of the U.S. Army Air Force (USAFF) fighter squadrons in the early 1940s. In the summer of 1941, Maj. Gen. Claire Lee Chennault, who grew up in Louisiana, began recruiting and training pilots for the American Volunteer Group, who became known as the "Flying Tigers" in China during World War II.

The P-40 Warhawk served as inspiration for ULM's new nickname/mascot, adopted in 2006. The P-40 uniform series incorporates details of the fighter into its design.

The ULM football team has worn the P-40 series uniform for selected home games since the 2015 season.

RAGIN' CAJUNS SCOUTING REPORT –
The Ragin' Cajuns (11-16) enter Saturday's game in 10th place in the Sun Belt Conference standings at 6-10. Louisiana Lafayette is 4-6 in its last 10 games, including an 81-77 victory at Troy last Saturday. The Ragin' Cajuns are 3-9 in road games this season.

ULL has lost three scholarship players to season-ending knee injuries in 2019-20, including Kobe Julien, Durey Caldwell and Javonne Lowery. Through 27 games, the Ragin' Cajuns have utilized 11 different starting lineups.

The Ragin' Cajuns' playing rotation features three double-figure scorers, in 6-foot-7 forward Jalen Johnson (15.6 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game), 6-2 guard Cedric Russell (13.3 ppg., 3.7 rpg.) and 6-3 guard Mylik Wilson (11.3 ppg., 5.6 rpg.).

Johnson ranks among the Sun Belt's Top 10 in six different statistical categories: second in minutes played (34.5 pg.), third in free-throw percentage (.825), fourth in field-goal percentage (.439), fifth in rebounding (6.8 rpg.), seventh in scoring (15.6 ppg.) and eighth in offensive rebounds (2.3 pg.). The transfer from St. Louis U. has scored in double figures in 23 games, including eight 20-point efforts. Johnson has produced five double-doubles.

Russell is listed among the league leaders in 3-point field goals made (fourth at 2.4 pg.), 3-point field-goal percentage (seventh at .356), minutes played (eighth at 33.4 mpg.) and scoring (14th at 13.3 ppg.). The junior from Alexandria, Louisiana, has reached double figures in 19 games, including a season-high 29 points at South Alabama.

Wilson, a Rayville High School graduate, has started 19 of 16 games as a freshman. He ranks among the Sun Belt leaders in steals (second at 2.3 pg.) and rebounding (18th at 5.6 rpg.). Wilson has posted double figures in 12 games, including a season-high 30 points at Appalachian State (10-of-19 FG shooting including 4-of-8 3-pointers).

The Ragin' Cajuns rank among the conference leaders in free-throw percentage (fourth at .736), offensive rebounds (fourth at 11.1 pg.), 3-point field-goal percentage defense (fifth at .325), 3-point field goals made (fifth at 7.6 pg.), blocked shots (fifth at 3.3 pg.), scoring offense (sixth at 71.5 ppg.) and rebound margin (sixth at +0.0 pg.).

Tenth-year ULL head coach Bob Marlin launched his coaching career as a graduate assistant (1981-83) at ULM under legendary coach Mike Vining, who now serves as color analyst on ESPN+ broadcasts originating from the Monroe campus. During his stint at ULM, Marlin also coached (current Warhawk head coach) Keith Richard.

ULM/RAGIN' CAJUNS SERIES NOTES –
Saturday's game marks the 81st meeting between ULM and ULL. The Ragin' Cajuns lead the all-time series, 53-27, including a 20-18 record in games played in Monroe. ULL has won the eight of the last 13 meetings in the series. Seven of the last 13 meetings have been decided by nine points or less.

The Ragin' Cajuns won the first regular-season meeting, 81-60, in Lafayette on Jan. 25.

THE LAST MEETING –
Ragin' Cajuns 81, ULM 60 (Jan. 25, 2020, in Lafayette, La.): Jalen Johnson scored a career-high 27 points to lead Louisiana Lafayette to an 81-60 victory over rival ULM Saturday as the Ragin' Cajuns snapped a four-game losing streak in Sun Belt Conference play.

Johnson hit 7-of-10 field-goal attempts, including 3-of-6 3-pointers, and 10-of-12 free-throw attempts. The transfer from St. Louis U. also added seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and blocked three shots.

There were three ties and two lead changes in the first half. ULM missed its first six field-goal attempts as the Ragin' Cajuns jumped out to a 5-0 lead. A transition layup from JD Williams sparked an 11-3 run as the Warhawks took an 11-8 lead on Tyree White's 3-pointer from the left wing with 13:42 left. Unfortunately, Williams twisted his left ankle after scoring ULM's first basket and left the game at the 16:41 mark.

Johnson scored 11 points during a 14-3 spurt as the Ragin' Cajuns moved out to a 22-14 advantage on his 3-pointer from the left wing with 8:51 remaining in the opening half. Michael Ertel buried back-to-back 3s as ULM answered with an 11-4 run of its own to cut its deficit to 26-25 with 5:21 on the clock. The Ragin' Cajuns (8-13, 3-7 Sun Belt) outscored the Warhawks, 10-2, down the stretch and took a 36-27 lead into the locker room, thanks to Mason Aucoin's 3-pointer from the right corner as time expired in the first half.

ULM (6-13, 2-8) went scoreless for 3:11 and made just one of its last 11 field-goal attempts to close out the first half.

The Warhawks got a three-point play from Jalen Hodge and a layup from Langston Powell to open the second half and pulled to within four points at 36-32 with 18:34 left. P.J. Hardy's 3-pointer from the right wing keyed a 13-4 run as the Ragin' Cajuns built a 49-36 lead on Cedric Russell's pull-up trey from the right wing with 15:27 to play. ULM managed to pull to within eight at 49-41 on Tyree White's slam dunk on a nifty pass from Ertel with 13:48 remaining, but the Warhawks failed to close the margin any further. The Ragin' Cajuns regained control, thanks to a 10-0 spurt, and built a 61-43 advantage on Tirus Smith's three-point play with 10:55 to go. ULM went scoreless for 3:37 during that stretch. Johnson's third 3-pointer gave ULL its largest lead at 81-59 with 1:57 on the clock.

The Ragin' Cajuns also got 11 points from Smith and 10 from Russell. ULL outscored ULM, 26-11, from the free-throw line.

Four Warhawks scored in double figures, led by Tyree White who recorded his first career double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Ertel finished with 13 points, Hodge 12 and Powell 10.

THE LAST MEETING IN FANT-EWING COLISEUM –
ULM 99, Ragin' Cajuns 95 (Jan. 19, 2019, in Monroe, La.): ULM made its point with lots of points and the Warhawks needed them all. Five Warhawks reached double figures in scoring and ULM outlasted Louisiana Lafayette, 99-95, at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Daishon Smith scored 27 points and contributed seven rebounds and eight assists. Michael Ertel poured in 23 points, JD Williams scored 15 points and matched his career best with nine rebounds, Andre Washington scored a career-high 12 points and added seven rebounds and Travis Munnings contributed 11 points and eight boards.

ULM (10-7, 3-2 in the Sun Belt) improved to 8-0 at home.

JaKeenan Gant led ULL (11-7, 2-3) with 31 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Two buzzer-beater losses on the road the previous week had ULM in no mood to keep it close early on. The Warhawks were on fire from the start, shooting their way to a 35-15 lead by the 9:34 mark. Ertel scored 10 points with two 3-pointers during the early blitz.

With 1:17 left in the first half, Munnings reached a solid milestone with his 800th career rebound. Munnings became just the fourth player in school history with 1,000 career points and 800 boards, joining Calvin Natt, Henry Steele and Bill Snellings in the exclusive club.

ULM led by as many as 22 points in the opening half while shooting 57 percent overall and 50 percent (7 of 14) from 3-point territory. Smith led ULM scorers with 14. Williams hit a long buzzer-beater as time expired in the first half to send ULM to the dressing room up 53-39.

The Warhawks cooled off to shoot 40.6 percent in the second half and 49.3 percent overall, and the Ragin' Cajuns made their run. A 3-pointer by P.J. Hardy at the 12:31 mark cut the lead to six at 64-58.

ULM kept ULL from getting any closer until Hardy's 3-pointer with 2:35 remaining cut the lead to 90-87. But Ertel answered immediately on the other end with a clutch 3-ball to boost ULM back ahead 93-87.

The Cajuns cut it to 95-92 on Justin Miller's layup with 15.2 second left in the game. Fouled with 8.2 seconds, Smith calmly hit a pair of free throws.

ULL's Cedric Russell stroked a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining to get it to two at 97-95, but Smith was fouled again and added two more free throws for the final margin, 99-95.

Smith made 13-of-13 free throws in the game, and ULM was 21-of-25 from the line overall.

THE LAST TIME OUT –
ULM 66, Arkansas State 52 (Feb. 19 in Jonesboro, Ark.): Tyree White and Michael Ertel combined to score 35 points to lead ULM to a 66-52 victory at Arkansas State Wednesday night, as the Warhawks led from start to finish while winning for the first time in 15 games at First National Bank Arena. It also marked ULM's first win in Jonesboro, Arkansas, since March 5, 1985, snapping a 17-game losing streak.

The Warhawks made six of their first seven field-goal attempts, including all five 3-point attempts, and rolled to a 17-4 lead on Michael Ertel's 3 from the left corner with 15:55 remaining. ULM put together a 9-0 run midway through the first half and took an 18-point lead at 32-14 on White's 15-foot jumper from the right baseline with 7:16 on the clock. During a stretch of 5:16, Arkansas State (15-13, 7-10) went 1-of-7 from the floor and committed five turnovers. The Red Wolves scored six-straight points late in the opening half and cut their deficit to 11 at 37-26 on a steal and fast-break layup from Caleb Fields with 2:02 left. White hit a 10-foot jumper in the lane and assisted on Elijah Ifejeh's slam dunk as Warhawks enjoyed a 41-26 lead at the intermission.

ULM's 41 first-half points marked a season high.

The Warhawks got 12 points each from White and Ertel in the first half while shooting 59 percent from the field (17-of-29), including 50 percent (6-of-12) from behind the 3-point arc. ULM parlayed A-State's 10 first-half turnovers into 13 points.

Marquis Eaton outscored ULM, 7-2, to open the second half as A-State pulled to within 10 at 43-33 with 17:17 remaining. The Warhawks responded with a 12-0 spurt to regain control at 55-33 on Ertel's 3-pointer from the right wing with 12:35 left. ULM led by as many as 23 points twice in the second half.

ULM Basketball Inks Four in Early Signing Period –
The ULM men's basketball team signed four high school athletes to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period in November, featuring three athletes from the state of Louisiana.

"This is the first time in many years we have been able to sign four quality high school players in the early signing period," ULM head coach Keith Richard said.
