ULM Game Notes Southeastern Louisiana Game Notes
MONROE, La. - After picking up a weekend sweep over Grambling, the ULM Warhawks play their first mid-week games of the 2020 season, hosting Southeastern Louisiana for two games, starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday and continuing at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The Warhawks and Lions meet for the 128th time in program history on Tuesday night. ULM leads the all-time series 68-58-1. The Lions have won four of the last five meetings with ULM, including a sweep of last year's mid-week set in Hammond, 10-3 and 7-1. The two teams also met in the season-opening series in 2016 in Hammond, as the Lions won the first two games, 2-0 and 8-2, before ULM won the series finale 6-5. ULM has not hosted Southeastern since the Lions came to Warhawk Field for a three-game weekend series from Feb. 28 to March 2, 2014.
The Warhawks have opened the season 5-1 after sweeping Grambling State over the weekend at Warhawk Field. ULM rolled to a 15-0 win on Friday night before rallying for a 7-6 win on Saturday. On Sunday, ULM jumped out to an 11-0 lead through four innings before Grambling's bats came to life, and the Warhawks held on for a 23-12 win. It marked ULM's first three-game series sweep since April 5-7, 2019, at Georgia State, and their first sweep at Warhawk Field since sweeping Georgia State on May 5 and 6, 2018.
ULM head coach
Michael Federico is in his third season with the Warhawks. He led the team to an 11-win improvement in his first season, and then a four-win improvement in his second season. He is 55-63 overall as the head coach at ULM. Federico is 0-2 against the Lions, with his only meetings against Southeastern coming in the 2019 season.
Southeastern Louisiana is 3-3 on the young season. The Lions picked up a 3-2 win over the Ragin' Cajuns on opening night, but then lost to Louisiana Tech 2-0 on Feb. 15, and lost a re-match with the Cajuns 9-6 on Feb. 18. The Lions took two out of three games over this past weekend, beating Jacksonville 2-1 and 5-4 on Friday and Saturday before dropping Sunday's series finale, 8-0.
Southeastern Louisiana head coach Matt Riser is in his seventh season with the Lions, amassing a 230-137 record. Riser has led the Lions to three NCAA tournament berths in his first six seasons, along with a pair of Southland Conference titles. Riser is 6-3 against ULM.
