BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The ULM beach volleyball team wrapped up the Blazer Beach Bash, hosted by UAB, by claiming its second win of the season, which came over Nicholls State in 5-0 fashion, on Saturday, Feb. 29 in Birmingham, Ala. The Warhawks, who split the two-day, four-match event, suffered a 5-0 setback at the hands of Coastal Carolina earlier in the afternoon.
ULM (2-7) quickly established a 1-0 lead in the match against Nicholls State when the No. 5 seeded tandem of
Ina Gosen and
Bailey Smith triumphed 21-9, 21-8 over Meghan Wozniak and Lilly Bivens.
The lead quickly moved to 2-0 for ULM as the No. 1 pairing of
Gabby Love and
Kayla Gallant emerged with a 21-8, 21-17 victory over Kylie Lockhart and Emily Gauthreaux. The Warhawks followed that by claiming their third point, and the team victory, as
Elizabeth Moreland and
Abbie Elder defeated Katie Jones and Jaida Felix by scores of 21-8 and 21-18.
The Warhawks rolled to their fourth win of the match when third-seeded Aubrey Brooks and
Holland Ponthieux posted a 21-19, 21-10 victory versus Devon Bright and Bailey Lyons. ULM completed its second 5-0 team win of the season as No. 2 seeds
Grace Convey and
Julia Blazek triumphed over Emily Venable and Jackie Alanis by scores of 21-8, 21-16.

The Warhawks began the second day of the Blazer Beach Bash with a 5-0 setback to Coastal Carolina.
The Chanticleer duo of Madison Allred and Kaitlyn Holbrook began the match with a 21-16, 21-19 victory over
Bailey Smith and
Allie Kemp in the meeting of No. 5 seeds. Coastal Carolina followed that with a three-set triumph (21-12, 19-21, 15-13) by fourth seeds Abby Sharlun and Kalin Eske, who downed
Elizabeth Moreland and
Abbie Elder.
Coastal Carolina laid claim to the team win as the No. 1 pairing of Sydney Alvis and Viktoria Fink posted a 21-10, 21-15 victory against the Warhawk tandem of
Gabby Love and
Kayla Gallant. The Chanticleers rolled to their fourth point as second-seeded Irena Drobnjak and Sarlota Svobodova defeated
Grace Convey and
Julia Blazek by scores of 21-12, 21-17.
The fifth point went the way of the Chanticleers as No. 3 seeds Lucy Campbell and Martine Kragholm enjoyed a straight set victory (21-12, 21-19) against ULM's
Audrey Brooks and
Holland Ponthieux.
The Warhawks return to action on Friday, March 6, when they begin a two-day, four-match tournament hosted in New Orleans.
