Tiger Invitational | Results After Second Round
 
AUBURN, Ala. – The ULM men's golf team ascended to the top of the team leaderboard as second-round action concluded Monday, March 9 at the Tiger Invitational, which is being played at the par-72, 7,289-yard Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Alabama. The Warhawks took advantage of a 6-over-par 294 in the second round to move past round-one leader Auburn, which fired an 8-over-par 296 on Monday.
 
Host Auburn, who has two teams competing in the tournament, is both second and third on the team leaderboard. The Tigers' B unit is one stroke off the pace established by ULM with a 1-under-par score of 575 (284-291), while the No. 15 ranked Tigers top squad is 1-over-par with a 577 (281-296). North Alabama and Western Kentucky round out the top five with scores of 582 (+6) and 586 (+10), respectively.
 
ULM was led individually by sophomore Otto Van Buynder, who remained tied for third with Western Kentucky's Tom Bevington with a 3-under-par 141 (69-72). Van Buynder, who carded a team-low 72, wrapped up Monday with 11 pars and four birdies, including three on the back nine at the 11th, 12th and 14th holes. His par-4 scoring average of 3.95 is tied for the field's top mark. Van Buynder has nine birdies through 36 holes.
 
Senior Joao Girao, who shot a 1-over-par 73 Monday, is locked in a three-way for tie for ninth at 1-under par 143 (70-73) with Auburn's Alex Vogelsong and Jovan Rebula. Girao tallied 11 pars and three birdies in the second round. His day began with a birdie on the opening hole, which was quickly followed by a birdie at the fourth hole. Girao closed out the back nine with six pars and a birdie at 12.
 
"We competed well today," ULM Director of Golf Tim Baldwin said. "The conditions were challenging, and with a solid round tomorrow, we hope to get it done!"
 
North Alabama's Jackson Wedgeworth kept his top spot on the individual leaderboard with a second-round 68, leaving him at 8-under-par 136 (68-68) through 36 holes. Auburn's C.J. Easley is three strokes behind the leader at 5-under-par 139.
 
ULM senior Guillaume Fanonnel, the nation's 57th ranked player according to Golfstat, followed up an opening-round 70 with a 75 on Monday, leaving him tied for 17th at 1-over-par 143. Fanonnel recorded 11 pars and two birdies, which came on the seventh and 11th holes, in the second round. His nine birdies through 36 holes is tied for the team lead.
 
After shooting a 6-over-par 78 Monday, Andoni Etchenique is tied for 42nd at 5-over 149 (71-78). His second-round scorecard included 10 pars and one birdie at 12.
 
Freshman JC Tvergaard posted a 2-over-par 74 – the third-lowest second-round score recorded by a Warhawk. Tvergaard is tied for 84th in the field with a 13-over 157 (83-74). He notched 11 pars and three birdies (second, seventh and 14th holes) on Monday.
 
The third and final round of the Tiger Invitational begins at 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10. The first ULM player tees off at 9:30 a.m.
