Warhawks Conclude LSU Louisiana Invitational with 20 Top-10 Performances

Track & Field
BATON ROUGE, La. – The ULM track and field team concluded its second meet in Baton Rouge in the last three weeks on Friday, January 29th, earning 20 Top-10 finishes at the LSU Louisiana Invitational. The Warhawks capped off the meet with a trio of second-place finishes—which came from Adrian Harris (600-meter run), Eric Hawkins (800-meter run) and Nasya Ramirez (long jump)—while sophomore Reggie Shallowhorn finished third in the long jump to give ULM a total of four Top-3 competitors.

Harris came through with a second-place finish in the 600-meter run after crossing the stripe in 1:33.96. He was edged out by Southeastern Louisiana's Agerian Jackson, who brought home top honors in 1:22.67. Hawkins reached the podium for ULM in the 800-meter run, capping off a solid performance with a time of 1:53.43. Southern's Nicholas Scott crossed the line 0.38 seconds ahead of Hawkins.

Ramirez, the top women's finisher for ULM, enjoyed the second Top-3 finish of her ULM career with a 5.61-meter leap in the long jump event. Two weeks ago, Ramirez came through with a mark of 5.51 meters in the long jump at the LSU Purple Tiger. Her mark at the LSU Louisiana Invitational was short of the Tigers' Aliyah Whisby, who topped the event with a leap of 6.41 meters.

Shallowhorn was one of three men's competitors for the Warhawks to earn multiple Top-10 finishes, including a fourth in the long jump. Shallowhorn contorted his body for a 6.29-meter leap in the long jump, finishing behind Northwestern's Markeit Steverson (6.93 meters) and Southern's Ja'Carrius Demmerritte (6.79 meters) in the event. That third-place finish marked the first time in his collegiate career that Shallowhorn reached the podium. He posted his second Top-10 finish of the afternoon in the high jump, clearing 1.96 meters as he finished sixth.

Sophomore Darshon Turk managed a par of Top-10 finishes in the men's 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash. In the 60-meter hurdles, Turk placed sixth with a mark of 8.31, while his time in the 60-meter dash was 7.08, the fifth-best of the afternoon.

Brandon Lewis was also successful for ULM with solid performances in the 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. Lewis bolted down the track in 8.46 in the 60-meter hurdles, after qualifying for the finals with a time of 8.47, to finish in eighth. In the men's 60-meter dash, Lewis posted the eighth-best time (7.16) of the event.

Micaiah Dendy was the only woman to post multiple Top-10 finishes for ULM. She notched a seventh-place finish in the triple jump, with a leap of 10.99 meters, along with a ninth-place outing in the long jump after stretching herself for 5.05 meters. Teammate Khrystyan Reddic was also among the Top-10 finishers in the long jump event, placing seventh at 5.27 meters. ULM's Jala Richard was one spot ahead of Dendy in the women's triple jump, placing eighth with a mark of 10.96 meters.

The Warhawks were well represented in the women's weight throw event as Hannah Blood and Jadyn Walden finished fifth and eighth, respectively. Blood came through with a heave of 16.24 meters, while Walden reached a distance of 14.75 meters. Teammate Alivia Busch, competing in her first indoor event, wrapped up the women's shot put in fifth with a heave of 13.05 meters.

In the men's weight throw the ULM duo of Callan Saldutto and Chapman Bazer were sixth and ninth, respectively. Saldutto reached a distance of 14.78 meters, while Bazer had a toss of 13.80 meters.

Jaylen Wade, who logged a time of 10:14.03 in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, crossed the line sixth for the Warhawks. Women's teammate Trinity Walker completed the 800-meter run in 2:42.27, to earn a seventh-place finish.
