MONROE, La. – The ULM volleyball team travels to the Carolinas for a pair of Sun Belt matchups. The Warhawks square off against Coastal Carolina at 5 p.m. Friday in Conway, South Carolina, before taking on App State in Boone, North Carolina, at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Warhawks (5-17 overall, 1-6 Sun Belt Conference) have not met the Chanticleers (12-4, 6-0) or the Mountaineers (5-13, 1-5) since the 2019 season.
ULM comes into the weekend on a six-game losing skid in SBC play. The Warhawks average 10.5 kills per set, 9.5 assists per set and 14.5 digs per set. Senior Cali Assaley leads ULM in kills at 3.35 kills per set and 238 total kills. Junior Mariana Volponi e Giordan averages a team-best 5.79 assists per set and 307 assists. Junior Madeline Hogan leads her team in total digs with 175 and an average of 3.65 digs per set.
The Chanticleers enter the contest atop the SBC. At 6-0, they are the only remaining team with a perfect record in SBC play. CCU averages 12.8 kills per set, 11.2 assists per set and 14.1 digs per set. ULM is 0-5 all-time against the Chanticleers.
The Mountaineers are averaging 10.5 kills per set, 9.5 assists per set and 13.1 digs per set. Like ULM, their lone victory in the conference came against Georgia State. ULM is 1-7 all-time versus the Mountaineers with its last victory coming in 2014.
