MONROE, La. – The ULM soccer team goes on the road for the final time in the regular season, visiting Texas State and the Ragin' Cajuns. The Warhawks and Bobcats meet at 5 p.m. Friday at the Bobcat Soccer Complex in San Marcos, while ULM and the in-state rival Cajuns collide at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Complex in Lafayette.
The Warhawks (10-3-1 overall, 3-3-1 Sun Belt Conference) have won 10 matches for the first time in the Sun Belt Conference era (2006-present) and only the second time in program history. The 2005 ULM squad won 14 matches. The Warhawks set the single-season team goal scoring record on Sunday against Nicholls and have netted 42 goals on the year.
Individually, junior forward
Courtney Marten returned to her goal-scoring ways on Friday against App State and again on Sunday vs. Nicholls. The Collinsville, Illinois, native scored the eventual game-winning goal in each match to push her single-season school record to 13 goals. She is tied for fourth for goals in a career with 16 goals since joining the Warhawk roster. One more goal will move her into a tie for second place with Tiffany Bombard (17 goals, 2007-10) and Jenna Pillon (2013-15). Cindy Barker owns the career scoring record at 22 goals (2000-03).
Senior
Theoni Zerva set the single-season assists record with her ninth assist of the year on Sunday vs. Nicholls. Marten has 27 points (13 goals, one assist) while Zerva has 25 points (eight goals, nine assists). Marten needs one point and Zerva needs three points to tie the single-season points record of 28, held by Chelsea Shriner (2001, 10 goals, eight assists).
Freshman
Mara Grutkamp is third on the team with 12 points, netting four goals and adding four assists. Freshman
Inge Konst is fourth on the team with 11 points, scoring three goals and chipping in five assists.
In goal, junior
Hailey Hillock has started 11 matches and played 982 minutes with a 1.28 goals against average and a .745 save percentage. Freshman
Mickaela Leal had one save in a shutout against Nicholls on Sunday.
Texas State (7-6-2, 4-4-1) wraps up the regular season on Friday night. Kiara Gonzales and Mya Ulloa lead the Bobcats with 11 points. Gonzales has scored four goals and added three assists. Ulloa has netted three goals and tallied five assists. Beth Agee has started 11 matches in goal and sports a 1.06 goals against average and .818 save percentage.
The Ragin' Cajuns (6-8-2, 3-3-2) play on Thursday at App State before returning home for Sunday's match. Karleen Bedre leads the Cajuns with 13 points with four goals and five assists. Tatum beck leads the team in scoring with five goals. Libby Harper has started 15 matches in goal with a 1.78 goals against average and .679 save percentage. The Cajuns are 4-2-1 at home this season.
