MONROE, La. – The ULM soccer team closed the regular season with a 2-1 loss in overtime to Troy on a windy and rainy Thursday afternoon at Brown Stadium.
Troy struck first with a goal by Nia Wilson off an assist from Allison Worley in the 19th minute. ULM equalized in the 34th minute when freshman
Mara Grutkamp fired a shot past Troy goalkeeper Lindsey LaRoche from nearly 25 yards away. It was Grutkamp's fifth goal of the season.
The two sides played a scoreless second half before Troy notched the golden goal in overtime. Wilson sent a cross into the box and Lisa Blankestein kicked it past ULM goalkeeper
Hailey Hillock for the match-winner in the 94th minute.
Troy tallied 11 shots with eight on goal to ULM's nine shots and six on frame. LaRoche had five saves for Troy while Hillock had six for ULM.
The Warhawks now await their final bracket assignment and will play in next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Alabama.
