Warhawks Head to A-State, Entertain South Alabama

MONROE, La. – The ULM soccer team looks to bounce back from its first two losses of the season when they take on Arkansas State and South Alabama. The Warhawks visit Arkansas State at 1 p.m. Thursday before entertaining South Alabama at 1 p.m. Sunday at Brown Stadium.
 
ULM (7-2-1 overall, 1-2-1 Sun Belt Conference) was shutout in both matches last week, losing 2-0 to Little Rock and Georgia Southern.
 
Warhawk junior Courtney Marten continues to lead NCAA Division I with 1.38 goals per game. She has 11 goals in eight matches while firing 26 shots with 18 on goal. She was held without a goal for the first time this season against Little Rock on Thursday.
 
Senior Theoni Zerva is the only player for ULM to start all 10 matches. Zerva leads the team with six assists, 39 shots and 19 shots on goal, and is second on the team with six goals scored.
 
Freshmen Inge Konst and Mara Grutkamp have two goals each. Konst has added four assists while Grutkamp has three. Senior Ermelinda Pantaleao has tallied three goals. Graduate transfer Aysha Bentick has four assists while junior Lucia Lobato has three assists and one goal.
 
ULM junior goalkeeper Hailey Hillock has started eight matches and has a 1.23 goals against average with a .737 save percentage.
 
Arkansas State (6-4-1 overall, 3-1 SBC) won the Sun Belt Conference West Division in 2020. The Red Wolves have defeated South Alabama, Georgia Southern and Texas State to open SBC play while dropping a match against the Ragin' Cajuns. Reigning SBC Player of the Year Sarah Sodoma leads A-State with four goals and three assists. Returning SBC Defensive Player of the Year Megan McClure returns in net and has started all 11 matches with a 0.97 goals against average with a .825 save percentage.
 
South Alabama (8-3-1 overall, 4-1-1 SBC) won the Sun Belt Conference East Division in 2020 and the SBC Championship before advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament, knocking off Colorado, 1-0, in the first round. After opening SBC play with a loss at Arkansas State and a tie at Little Rock, the Jaguars have won four straight matches, topping Texas State, Ragin' Cajuns, App State and Coastal Carolina. Gracie Wilson, a First Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection last year, leads USA with eight goals and five assists. Jaidy Gutierrez Campos and Allison Luckhardt have split time in net, with Gutierrez Campos posting a 0.36 goals against average and a .857 save percentage, while Luckhardt has a 1.93 goals against average and a .625 save percentage.
