ULM Softball Signs Four in Early Signing Period

Softball
MONROE, La. – ULM head softball coach Molly Fichtner announced the signing of four high school seniors in the early signing period, including three Louisiana products and one player from Alabama.

The Warhawks signed Madelyn England, Maddie Nichols, Emelie Price and Jenna Williams.

England, out of Sam Houston High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, was an All-District middle infielder as a junior in 2021 and has been in the Top 10% of her class all four years.

"We are thrilled to welcome Madelyn to our family," Fichtner said. "She has competed and been successful at the highest level in high school and travel ball. She is a utility player with pop at the plate. She is an incredible gamer and will be able to impact our program in multiple ways."

Nichols, from West Monroe High School in West Monroe, Louisiana, is ranked as a Top 90 player in the nation by Extra Inning Softball. She was an All-State selection in 2021 by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and the Louisiana Softball Coaches Association. She was an All-South Region pitcher as a junior by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and was All-District MVP. She also earned All-Parish and All-Big NELA Pitcher of the Year honors. In addition to her on the field accolades, she is a Top 10 Student of the Year and class valedictorian.

"Maddie is a hometown, highly touted recruit in the 2022 class," Fichtner said. "She is a dominant pitcher and will bring more depth into the circle for us next year. She will also add a powerful bat to our lineup. We are excited to welcome Maddie to the ULM family. She is going to take us to new heights."

Price, a product of South Beauregard High School and Longville, Louisiana, is a two-time First-Team All-District selection and has the highest ACT score in her class.

"Emelie is a special young lady that is going to make an impact within our program," Fichtner said. "She is an infielder and will provide a solid bat at the plate. We could not be more delighted for her to join ULM softball and help elevate our program."

Williams, from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, earned Second-Team All-State, First-Team All-County, Shelby County Hitter of the Year and Birmingham Terrific 20 honors as a junior in 2021. She has been inducted into the National Honor Society and is a member of Beta Club and Mu Alpha Theta.

"We are very excited to welcome Jenna Williams to the ULM softball family," Fichtner said. "Jenna comes to us from Alabama where she has had an incredible amount of success and accomplishments on and off the field. She will be working with outfield and behind the plate. She has an impeccable amount of pop off the bat that will impact us immediately. We are excited to have her with us."
