MONROE, La. – The ULM volleyball team wraps up the 2021 road schedule at 2 p.m. Saturday against the in-state rival Ragin' Cajuns at Earl K. Long Gym in Lafayette.
The Warhawks fell to the Cajuns, 3-0, in their meeting in Monroe on Oct. 12. Since their last matchup with ULM, the Cajuns have gone 2-4, rounding out their record to 13-8. The Cajuns are 8-5 in Sun Belt play this season. Meanwhile, ULM has lost 12 straight matches and is 5-22. The Warhawks are 1-12 in Sun Belt action.
ULM has averaged 10.4 kills per set, 9.4 assists per set and 14.5 digs per set.
For the Warhawks, Cali Assaley leads in total kills and kills per set. The senior from Columbia, South Carolina, has 305 kills with an average of 3.43 kills per set. Junior Mariana Volponi e Giordan leads the Warhawks in assists with 5.85 assists per set and 415 total assists. Junior Madeline Hogan has 233 digs and an average of 3.88 digs per set, both of which are team bests.
On the season, the Cajuns average 12.8 kills per set, 11.8 assists per set and 16.4 digs per set.
Cajuns' junior outside hitter Kelsey Bennett was named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. Bennett is the only player in the Sun Belt with over 300 kills and a .250 or better attacking percentage.
