Texas State Rallies to Walk Off ULM, 6-5

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State's Will Hollis hit a double down the right field line, scoring pinch runner Chase Evans from first base as the Bobcats rallied from a 2-run ninth inning deficit to defeat ULM, 6-5, in 10 innings Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Ballpark.

The game was tied at 3 from the third inning until the eighth inning. ULM broke through in the top half of the eighth inning as Andrew Beesley and Mason Holt hit back-to-back one-out singles. A balk moved the runners to second and third before Ryan Humeniuk delivered a 2-RBI single to centerfield, putting ULM on top, 5-3.

Texas State answered in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jose Gonzalez was hit by a pitch to open the inning. With one out, Peyton Lewis hit a home run to right field to tie the game at 5. The Warhawks were retired in order in the top of the 10th to set up Hollis' walk-off hit.

ULM struck for three runs in the second inning as Michael Cervantes hit his first-career home run, a 3-run blast to left, to put ULM on top 3-1. Texas State tied the game up after Cole Coffey homered in the bottom of the second and Bryce Bonner added an RBI single in the third.

Beesley, Humeniuk and Cervantes had two hits each for ULM, while Hollis had three hits for Texas State.

ULM's Tylor Jans picked up an emergency start on the mound as scheduled starter Ty Barnes was scratched from the lineup due to illness. Jans pitched into the third inning, giving up three runs on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Landon Longsworth matched a career-high with four shutout innings out of the bullpen, while Lucas Wepf gave up two runs over three innings out of the pen.

Texas State's Tristan Stivors picked up the win after pitching a perfect top of the 10th inning. Starting pitcher Cameron Bush threw five innings, giving up three runs on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
