LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The ULM track and field team wrapped up its fifth meet of the 2021 outdoor season with 34 Top-10 finishes at the Little Rock Invitational on April 10. ULM earned a third-place finish in the men's team standings, finishing with 92.5 total points and was fourth in the women's team standings with 76 points.
The Warhawks had three individuals claim first in their respective events, including
Brandon Lewis,
Alivia Busch and Morgan Derosia. Lewis earned his second first-place finish of the outdoor slate and first in the men's 110-meter hurdles after crossing the line in 14.67. Teammate
Darshon Turk joined him among the top finishers, placing fourth with a time of 15.18.
Busch was one of two ULM women to claim first, her first of the outdoor season, in the shot put. Busch reached 46-feet, 7 1/2-inches, with her toss to notch her second Top-3 performance of the season. Joining her among the Top-10 finishers in the event was
Jadyn Walden, who reached 41-feet, 1/2-inches to score a seventh-place finish.
Derosia and Warhawk teammate
Olivia McCrary both reached the podium in the women's javelin. Derosia was the top performer with a toss of 121-feet, 4-inches, while McCrary was second after reaching 110-feet, 5-inches.
Lewis also managed a second-place finish in the men's 400-meter hurdles after posting a time of 56.96, just over two seconds off the pace established by Arkansas State's Darrian Lockett, who had a time of 54.76.
Jakob Fudge was second on the podium in the men's hammer throw, reaching 184-feet, 1-inch. Fudge also had a solid performance in the shot put, finishing second with a toss of 50-feet, 1 1/4-inches as he enjoyed his fourth Top-3 performances of the slate.
The Warhawk pair of
Mason Nichols and
Darryl Givens finished second and third, respectively, in the men's javelin. Nichols' toss reached 163-feet, 9-inches, while Givens came through with a heave of 158-feet, 1-inch, to claim third.
Four ULM women joined Derosia and Busch among Top-3 finishers on Saturday.
Rebekka Schubert was one of those individuals, placing second in the long jump and third in the 100-meter hurdles. Schubert cleared 19-feet, 3 1/2-inches in the long jump competition. She picked up a third-place in the 100-meter hurdles after streaking down the track in 14.53.
Jadyn Walden was second in the women's hammer throw for the Warhawks after it traveled 151-feet. The top performer was Little Rock's Mia Dunning, who had a heave of 180-feet, 9-inches.
Both
Amari Jones and
Khrystyan Reddic placed third in the women's 100-meter dash and long jump, respectively. Jones broke the tape in the 100-meter dash in 12.15, while Reddic reached 19-feet, 3 1/4-inches in the long jump.
The Warhawks will compete in Louisiana for their next two meets, heading to LSU for the Boots Garland Invitational on April 17 and then the Northwestern State Leon Johnson Invitational on April 24.
