MONROE, La. – The Ragin' Cajuns scored nine runs over the sixth and seventh innings to rally for an 11-9 win over ULM on Saturday at Warhawk Field to complete a sweep of the series.
The Warhawks built a 9-2 lead through five innings. After
Wiley Cleland's RBI single in the first inning tied the game at 1, ULM took a 4-1 lead in the third on
Landon Cato's sacrifice fly, a throwing error and a wild pitch. ULM added two more runs in the fourth inning on an RBI double by
Mason Holt and an RBI single by
Ryan Humeniuk. The Warhawks tallied three more runs in the fifth inning on a sacrifice bunt for an RBI by
Colby Deaville, an RBI single by Holt and another sacrifice bunt for an RBI by
Andrew Beesley for the 9-2 lead.
The game started to turn in the sixth inning when the Cajuns scored six runs on just two hits, taking advantage of four walks by two different Warhawk pitchers and a pair of ULM errors. The Cajuns tied the game in the seventh inning with an RBI single by Brett Borgogno and took the lead on an RBI single by CJ Willis. An RBI single by Connor Kimple gave the Cajuns the 11-9 advantage.
Holt had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Warhawks while
Travis Washburn matched a career-high with three hits. Borgogno had three hits, an RBI and two runs scored for the Ragin' Cajuns.
David Christie (1-0) picked up the win by throwing the final five innings for the Cajuns, giving up just an unearned run on one hit with one walk and six strikeouts.
Trey Lindsay (1-2) suffered the loss for ULM, giving up six runs, four earned, on four hits with two walks in 2/3 of an inning.
