Kickoff Times Announced for ULM Season & Home Openers

ORDER 2021 ULM FOOTBALL SEASON TICKETS

MONROE, La. – Kickoff times have been set for ULM's 2021 season and home openers, according to joint announcements made by the Sun Belt Conference and TV networks on Thursday, May 27.
 
The Warhawks open the Terry Bowden era as head coach with a nationally televised road game at Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 4, with kickoff scheduled for noon ET/11 a.m. CT on SEC Network.
 
The 2021 season opener marks the sixth meeting between ULM and Kentucky. The Wildcats lead the all-time series, 4-1, with all games played in Lexington.
 
Playing its first season as an NCAA Division I-A independent under head coach Ed Zaunbrecher, ULM opened the series with a 21-14 victory over Kentucky on Nov. 5, 1994. The Warhawks rushed for 270 yards against the Wildcats, with Carson Fields gaining 147 and Eric Foster adding 104 more. The ULM defense limited Kentucky, coached by Bill Curry, to 270 yards total offense. Linebackers Damon Poage and Chad Nerenberg recorded 14 tackles each to pace the Warhawk defense.
 
The Wildcats have won the last four meetings in a row, including the most recent match-up on Oct. 11, 2014, 48-14. Behind three rushing touchdowns from Calvin Dawson, the Warhawks nearly pulled off another upset on Nov. 18, 2006, before falling 42-40. ULM cut its deficit to 42-40 on Kinsmon Lancaster's 1-yard sneak with a minute left in the game, but he was stopped short of the end zone on the 2-point conversion attempt. Dawson finished with 179 rushing yards on 26 carries.
 
After a bye week, ULM plays its 2021 home opener in Malone Stadium on Sept. 18 against Jackson State at 7 p.m. CT. The Tigers are led by first-year head coach Deion Sanders, who was a two-time All-American for Bobby Bowden at Florida State in the late 1980s. The home opener will be streamed live on ESPN3. It marks the first-ever meeting between ULM and Jackson State.

In addition to Jackson State, ULM's six-game home schedule includes a non-conference contest against Liberty as well as Sun Belt Conference matchups against Troy, Georgia State, South Alabama and Arkansas State.
