Henry Named LSWA Hitter of the Week

Baseball
MONROE, La. – ULM junior outfielder Trace Henry has been named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Hitter of the Week, as announced by the LSWA Monday afternoon.

The Mooreville, Mississippi native had a huge week as the Warhawks went 3-1 on the road. Henry hit .625 (10-for-16) on the week with three doubles, one triple, two RBIs, seven runs scored, three walks and two sacrifice bunts.

Henry started his week with two hits, including a double, one walk and two runs scored on Tuesday against the Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette. His walk came with two outs in the ninth inning and allowed Mason Holt to step to the plate, who hit the game-winning 2-run home run in the 7-6 victory.

He opened the series at Appalachian State Friday with one hit and two walks. On Saturday, he set the table for the ULM offense, collecting four hits, including two doubles and a triple, and scored four times as ULM erased a six-run deficit for a 10-7 win. In Sunday's series finale, Henry added three more hits while driving in two runs and scoring once more as ULM rallied and pulled away for a 13-5 win.

Henry is tied with Travis Washburn for the team lead in batting average at .333. He has 11 doubles, two triples, 11 RBIs, 26 runs scored, 13 walks and is a perfect 10-for-10 on stolen base attempts.

ULM returns to the field at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Jackson State before hosting UT Arlington in the final three home games of the season this weekend with first pitch set for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
