MONROE, La. – The ULM softball team closes the 2021 regular season with three games against the No. 14 Ragin' Cajuns starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park in Lafayette.
The Warhawks (15-28 overall, 5-13 Sun Belt Conference) enter the final weekend of the regular season sitting in ninth place in the Sun Belt Conference, one game back of Georgia Southern for eighth place and a game-and-a-half behind Coastal Carolina for seventh place.
ULM is led by senior
Jayden Mount at the plate. The Longview, Texas native is hitting .341 on the season with eight doubles, one triple, four home runs and 20 RBIs. Inside of SBC action, Mount's batting average balloons to .429, with six doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs.
Junior
Korie Kreps is the only other Warhawk hitting over .300 on the season with a .339 batting average. She has 12 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 13 RBIs.
In the circle, freshman
Gianni Hulett leads the team with 98 1/3 innings, posting a 3.48 ERA and 51 strikeouts on the season.
Amber Coons leads the team with 56 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings.
The Ragin' Cajuns have three players hitting over .300 on the season. Ciara Bryan leads the Sun Belt Conference and ranks 29th nationally, hitting .436 with nine doubles, four triples, five home runs, 34 RBIs and 48 runs scored. Kaitlyn Alderink is second on the team at .358 with 13 doubles, one home run, 18 RBIs and 36 runs scored. Kendall Talley is hitting .350 with seven doubles, two home runs, 18 RBIs and 31 runs scored.
The Cajuns have posted 15 shutouts on the season to rank ninth in NCAA Division I. Summer Ellyson has an 18-5 record over 136 innings, posting a 2.26 ERA with 136 strikeouts to 22 walks. Kandra Lamb is 15-4 over 120 1/3 innings with a 2.21 ERA and 138 strikeouts to 38 walks.
