MONROE, La. – Following another strong week, former ULM baseball player Chad Bell was promoted Monday to High-A Hudson Valley with the New York Yankees. Meanwhile, former Warhawk Trent Tingelstad drove in five runs, and Keegan Curtis and Trey Jeans continued to excel on the mound over the past week in minor league baseball.
Keegan Curtis, Somerset Patriots (New York Yankees, AA)
Curtis made a pair of appearances in the past week, suffering his first loss of the season. He took the loss on Wednesday, June 9 against Erie, allowing 1 1/3 innings, giving up one run on two hits with one walk and three strikeouts. He came back on Saturday, June 12 and tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. He is 1-1 on the season with a 4.38 ERA over 12 1/3 innings in nine appearances, allowing eight runs, six earned, on 11 hits with 20 strikeouts to four walks.
Chad Bell, Hudson Valley Renegades (New York Yankees, High-A)
Bell picked up six hits over five games before his promotion from the Tampa Tarpons, clubbing two home runs with three RBIs and five runs scored for the Tampa Tarpons at Clearwater. He opened the week with a two-hit game on Tuesday, June 8 with a triple. The next night, Bell added a single with a run scored and a walk. His big game came on Friday, June 11 with three hits, including belting two home runs with three RBIs and two runs scored. He walked and scored twice on Sunday, June 13. Bell is hitting .279 with six home runs, five doubles, two triples, 19 RBIs, 24 runs scored and 17 walks.
Trey Jeans, Winston-Salem Dash (Chicago White Sox, High-A)
Jeans made two appearances against Greenville, throwing 3 1/3 innings while giving up a run on one hit with no walks and five strikeouts. On Thursday, June 10 Jeans worked 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts. On Sunday, June 13 he threw two innings, with one run on one hit and three strikeouts. Jeans 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA over 16 innings and 10 appearances this season, allowing 15 runs, 12 earned, on 19 hits with 22 strikeouts to nine walks.
Trent Tingelstad, Modesto Nuts (Seattle Mariners, Low-A)
Tingelstad played in four games over the last week against Fresno, collecting three hits with five RBIs. On Wednesday, June 9 he hit an RBI single. He followed that up on Friday, June 11 with a double and three RBIs. Tingelstad wrapped up his week with an RBI single on Saturday, June 12. He is hitting .224 with a home run, three doubles, one triple, 16 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
