MONROE, La. – Fourteen home games, trips to LSU and Auburn and a multi-team event at Louisiana Tech highlight the 2021-22 ULM men's basketball schedule, which was released Tuesday afternoon by head coach
Keith Richard and the Sun Belt Conference.
The season is set to tip-off on Tuesday, Nov. 9 in Baton Rouge against LSU. The Tigers reached the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament last season and finished 19-11. LSU has won all seven previous meetings, including an 81-69 win in 2018.
The Warhawks play their second SEC opponent in as many games on Nov. 12 with a trip to Auburn. It is just the fourth all-time meeting between ULM and the Tigers, with Auburn winning all three previous meetings, including the last one in 2008.
The home schedule begins on Tuesday, Nov. 16 when Champion Christian visits Fant-Ewing Coliseum. It is the first meeting with the Tigers since the 2014-15 season, a 106-39 Warhawk victory.
ULM is scheduled to take part in a multi-team event at Louisiana Tech on November 22-24. Opponents have yet to be finalized for the event.
The Warhawks open a three-game homestand on Dec. 1 with Centenary. The rivalry with Northwestern State is renewed on Dec. 4, while Louisiana College closes the run at Fant-Ewing Coliseum on Dec. 8.
ULM meets up with Stephen F. Austin for the sixth-consecutive season on Dec. 14 in Nacogdoches, Texas. The non-conference slate ends with Southern Miss returning a trip to Monroe on Dec. 18 before the Warhawks return a trip to Lamar on Dec. 20.
The SBC slate features 18 games and one overall set of conference standings after last season saw the conference split into two divisions with two sets of standings as precautions in the COVID-19 pandemic. ULM opens with a trip to Coastal Carolina on Dec. 30 before playing at App State, last year's SBC Tournament Champion and NCAA Tournament participant, on New Year's Day.
The SBC home schedule starts on Jan. 6 with Little Rock before Arkansas State visits on Jan. 8. The Warhawks take a Texas road trip with Texas State on Jan. 13 and UT Arlington on Jan. 15, before closing the month with a season-best four-game homestand against Troy (Jan. 20), South Alabama (Jan. 22), Georgia Southern (Jan. 27) and Georgia State (Jan. 29).
The Warhawks spend most of the final month on the road, playing five of eight contests away from Fant-Ewing Coliseum. ULM visits Arkansas State on Feb. 3 and Little Rock on Feb. 5. The Warhawks play their final three home games starting on Feb. 10 vs. UT Arlington and continues on Feb. 12 vs. Texas State and Feb. 17 vs. the Ragin' Cajuns. The regular season ends with three consecutive road games against the Cajuns (Feb. 19), Georgia State (Feb. 24) and Georgia Southern (Feb. 26).
The season concludes with all 12 Sun Belt Conference programs participating in the Sun Belt Conference Championship from March 3-7 at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida.
