MONROE, La. – One former ULM baseball player found a new home while three others continued to contribute to their clubs over the past week in minor league baseball.
Keegan Curtis, Amarillo Sod Poodles (AA, Arizona Diamondbacks)
Curtis was traded on Thursday, July 1 by the New York Yankees to the Arizona Diamondbacks for outfielder Tim Locastro. He made his first appearance for his new squad on Saturday, July 3 by picking up his third save of the season, tossing a scoreless ninth inning on just seven pitches against the Wichita Wind Surge. Overall this season between Somerset and Amarillo, Curtis has appeared in 13 games with a 1-1 record and three saves. He has a 3.71 ERA, allowing nine runs, seven earned, on 14 hits with 27 strikeouts to seven walks.
Chad Bell, Hudson Valley Renegades (High-A, New York Yankees)
Bell had a tough series against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, picking up a triple with a walk on Wednesday, June 30. He added a walk in each of the final two games of the series on Saturday and Sunday. In 15 games since his promotion to High-A Hudson Valley, Bell is hitting .173 with two home runs, a double, triple and 10 RBIs. Overall on the season, Bell has played in 44 games, hitting .244 with eight homers, six doubles, three triples, 29 RBIs and 25 walks.
Trey Jeans, Winston-Salem Dash (High-A, Chicago White Sox)
Jeans made one appearance in last week's series at the Greenville Drive, throwing 1 1/3 innings, allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts and three walks. Jeans has made 14 appearances this season between Low-A Kannapolis and High-A Winston-Salem, posting a 1-1 record with a 6.93 ERA over 24 2/3 innings, allowing 22 runs, 19 earned, on 29 hits with 35 strikeouts to 16 walks.
Trent Tingelstad, Modesto Nuts (Low-A, Seattle Mariners)
Tingelstad played in four games at Visalia, compiling five hits, three for extra bases, with four RBIs. He opened the week on Tuesday, June 29 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored. He followed the performance two nights later with another double, RBI and two runs scored. He picked up two more hits on Friday, July 2 while adding an RBI. He has played in 35 games, hitting .240 with five home runs, 11 doubles, one triple, 41 RBIs, 33 runs scored and 51 walks to 56 strikeouts.
