MONROE, La. – The ULM soccer team visits Georgia State and Coastal Carolina to open Sun Belt Conference play. The Warhawks meet GSU at 7 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. CDT Thursday in Atlanta and wrap up the road swing against CCU at 12 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. CDT Sunday in Conway, South Carolina.
It will be ULM's second attempt to open Sun Belt Conference play after Sunday's match against Troy was postponed due to inclement weather in the 47th minute. The two teams will make up the match on Oct. 28 and restart from the beginning.
The Warhawks are led by junior
Courtney Marten, who has tallied seven goals and one assist in just four matches to pace ULM at 15 points. Marten has scored in all four matches in which she has appeared in 2021 and has 10 goals in her ULM career. She leads the Sun Belt Conference and is 15th in NCAA Division I in goals scored.
Senior
Theoni Zerva has played in all six matches and has scored five goals with two assists. Her 30 shots and 15 shots on goal each lead the Warhawks. Zerva leads the Sun Belt in shots per game (5.0) and shots on goal per game (2.5).
In goal, junior
Hailey Hillock is 4-0 with a 0.51 goals against average. She has an 88.2% save percentage, stopping 15 shots on the season. She is second in the SBC in goals against average and save percentage.
Georgia State is 6-3-1 on the season and is 1-1 in the Sun Belt after winning 3-1 at the Ragin' Cajuns on Thursday and dropping a 1-0 decision at Texas State on Sunday. The Panthers are led by Brooklynn Fugel with four goals and one assist. Six different Panthers have at least two goals on the season. Goalkeeping duties have been split between Maria Subies and Jaddah Foos. Subies has played in eight games with a 1.23 goals against average and 26 saves. Foos has played in four contests with a 1.99 goals against average and eight saves.
Coastal Carolina is 3-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the SBC after a 2-1 loss in overtime at Texas State on Thursday and a 2-1 win in overtime over App State on Sunday in Conway. Sarah Allen and Megan Brouse have netted two goals each for the Chanticleers, while Allen has two assists. Ky Hudson and Hope Morrow have split time in goal. Hudson has played in six matches with a 2.31 goals against average and 29 saves. Morrow has played in three matches with a 0.30 goals against average and 15 saves.
