ULM Visits Texas State, UTA for Weekend Matches

MONROE, La. – The ULM volleyball team takes its first road trip in Sun Belt Conference play this weekend for a matchup with Texas State at 6 p.m. Friday and UT Arlington at 6 p.m. Saturday.

ULM heads to Texas after splitting its first two SBC matches. The Warhawks scored a 3-1 win over Georgia State on Sept. 23 to open SBC play and dropped the match against Georgia Southern, 3-1, the next night. ULM is 5-12 on the season.

The Warhawks average 10.9 kills per set, 14.2 digs per set and 9.9 assists per set.

ULM is led in kills by senior Cali Assaley with 3.65 kills per set and 201 kills on the season. Junior Mariana Voloponi e Giordan leads ULM in assists with 6.22 assists per set at 280 total assists. Junior Madeline Hogan leads ULM with 3.56 digs per set and 146 digs on the season.

Texas State enters the match at 5-10 overall and 1-1 in the SBC. The Bobcats started conference play with a 3-1 victory over Troy before being swept, 3-0, by South Alabama. Three of Texas State's 10 losses have come against nationally ranked opponents. The last time the Warhawks defeated the Bobcats in 2005.

The Mavericks host the Warhawks after going 0-2 through their first two SBC matchups. UTA lost at South Alabama, 3-0, and Troy, 3-0.  ULM has not beaten UTA since 2015. The Mavericks are 2-9 on the season with their only wins coming against Northwestern State and Prairie View A&M—both teams that ULM has wins against.
