MATCH NOTES
MONROE, La. - The ULM soccer team concludes the 2022 regular season at 7 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. CDT Thursday at Coastal Carolina.
The Warhawks enter final day of the regular season tied for the final spot in the Sun Belt Conference Championship, which begins Monday in Foley, Alabama. ULM is tied with the Ragin' Cajuns with eight points, one point behind Marshall for ninth and two points ahead of Southern Miss and Troy.
ULM qualifies for the SBC Championship with a win plus a loss or tie by either Marshall or the Ragin' Cajuns. A loss or tie by both teams pushes ULM to a ninth-place finish. The Warhawks can also qualify with a tie and a loss by the Ragin' Cajuns, as all tiebreaking scenarios lead to ULM qualifying for the championship. ULM is eliminated with a loss.
ULM is 10-5-3 overall and 2-5-2 in SBC play.
Inge Konst leads the Warhawks with eight points and three assists, while
Mara Grutkamp has a team high six assists to go with four goals.
Ashley Washburn has added five goals and one assist. Eleven different Warhawks have multiple goals on the season, while 13 different Warhawks have scored at least one goal.
Coastal Carolina is 2-10-4 overall and 1-6-2 in SBC action. Megan Brouse leads the Chanticleers with nine goals and four assists for 22 points on the season. Julia Ziegenfuss has six goals and two assists. CCU is winless in its last four matches.

RECAP -
Georgia Southern converted a first-half goal and made it stand up in a 1-0 victory over ULM on Senior Night last Thursday at Brown Stadium. ULM outshot Georgia Southern, 16-13, but the Eagles made the most of their two shots on goal. The Warhawks put four shots on goal but came up empty. In the 17th minute, Georgia Southern struck for the only goal of the match, as Ellie McIntyre scored off an assist by Smith Cathey. ULM had a chance to equalize the match in the 90th minute, but a potential game-tying goal was called off with the Warhawks offside on the opportunity.
ULM scored two goals in the final 4:19 of the match to salvage a 3-3 draw against Troy last Sunday at the Troy Soccer Complex. After Troy surged in front with three second half goals, ULM responded in the closing moments. First,
Courtney Marten scored in the 86th minute to bring ULM within a goal, 3-2. It was the second goal of the season for Marten and 19th of her ULM career, which ranks second all-time. Forty-two seconds later,
Mara Grutkamp followed Marten, netting her fourth goal of the season and 10th of her career, equalizing the match at 3.
The late answer by the Warhawks countered a blitz by Troy to start the second half. In the 51st minute, Troy equalized the match at 1 when Jordan Stack found the top right corner of the goal off assists from Halee Bradbury and Nia Wilson. The Trojans took the lead in the 70th minute as Taytum Terrell found the back of the net off an assist by Gabrielle Chartier, putting Troy up, 2-1. A little under four minutes later, in the 74th minute, the Trojans pushed the lead to 3-1 as Ashley Rainho scored off an assist by Jayla Gage for the 3-1 advantage.
ULM led 1-0 at halftime after
Inge Konst scored in the 37th minute off a free kick for the lead. It was her team-leading eighth goal of the season and 11th of her career.
SERIES HISTORY –
Thursday's match is the sixth all-time meeting between ULM and Coastal Carolina, with CCU leading the series, 4-1. ULM picked up a 6-1 victory in Conway, South Carolina, on Sept. 26, 2021, but later had to forfeit the match due to the use of an ineligible player. ULM's only win in series history is a 2-0 victory in Monroe on Sept. 24, 2017.

ULM ranks inside the Top 50 in NCAA Division I in several stat categories, including: shots per game (15th at 18.56, first in Sun Belt Conference), shots on goal per game (23rd at 8.28, first SBC), total goals (23rd at 38, second SBC), scoring offense (41st at 2.11, second SBC) and total points (41st at 101, second SBC).
Individually,
Ashley Washburn ranks 52nd nationally and leads the SBC with 1.64 shots on goal per game, while
Mara Grutkamp is 104th nationally and second in the SBC at 0.35 assists per game.

If ULM qualifies for the field, the Warhawks will play in the SBC Championship beginning on Monday, Oct. 31, at the Foley Sports Complex in Foley, Alabama.
