Warhawks Return Home to Take on A-State

MONROE, La. - The ULM Warhawks play five of the final seven regular season games at home, starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in a rematch with Arkansas State at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. A-State won the first matchup this season in Jonesboro, 98-70, on Jan. 8.

Thursday's game will air on ESPN+ with Chris Harris (play-by-play) and Mike Vining (analyst) on the call. The game will also be broadcast on 105.7 FM/540 AM KMLB, KMLB.com and the TuneIn app on the Warhawk Radio Network from Learfield with Mike Hammett on the play-by-play.

Thursday's game marks the 49th all-time meeting between ULM and Arkansas State, with the Red Wolves leading the series, 33-15. A-State has won four straight games in the series, including a pair of wins last year at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The Red Wolves defeated ULM on Jan. 15-16, 2021, 64-50 and 59-44. ULM last defeated A-State, 65-53, in Monroe on March 7, 2019.

Second-year freshman Kyren Whittington continues to have a breakout season. She paced the Warhawks with 17 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block on Saturday against the Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette. She ranks eighth in the SBC at 13.3 points per game on the season. Inside SBC play, she is averaging 16.3 points per game, which ranks fifth in the SBC.

With a large group of fans in the stands, true freshman Katlyn Manuel had a solid performance in Lafayette on Saturday. She came a point shy of her second double-double of the season with nine points and 10 rebounds. It marks the third time this season, and first time in SBC play, that she has pulled in at least 10 rebounds. She leads the Warhawks with 5.7 rebounds per game.

True freshman Amaya Ford came off the bench to score nine points on 4-of-7 shooting on Saturday in Lafayette. Seven of her nine points came in the second quarter, including her first career made 3-pointer. She had attempted just one 3-pointer prior to Saturday's game, where she attempted a trio of treys.

Arkansas State is 10-11 overall and 3-5 in the Sun Belt Conference and has lost four consecutive games after Saturday's 75-69 loss vs. Texas State. The Red Wolves last picked up a win against Coastal Carolina, 81-60, on Jan. 15.

The Red Wolves are without leading scorer Keya Patton, who tore her ACL in the game at Troy on Jan. 22. Patton was averaging 14.3 points and shooting 41.8% from 3-point range prior to her injury and boosted her average to 19.5 points per game and 52.0% from 3-point range inside SBC play. Jireh Washington is the active leading scorer for A-State at 12.8 points and 3.0 assists per game. Trinitee Jackson leads the way in the post at 12.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the SBC. Morgan Wallace is averaging 10.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and has a team-high 64 assists. Lauryn Pendleton is the final Red Wolf in double figures at 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

The Red Wolves have one of the top offenses in the SBC, ranking second in the SBC at 79.9 points per game while leading the league inside of conference play at 80.6 points per game. According to HerHoopStats.com, A-State ranks 12th in NCAA Division I in pace, or possessions per 40 minutes, at 77.3.
