MONROE, La. – ULM second-year freshman guard
Kyren Whittington has been named Third-Team All-Sun Belt Conference, as announced by the SBC office Monday morning.
Whittington leads ULM in scoring at 15.4 points per game, which ranks fifth in the SBC. Inside SBC play, the Folsom, Louisiana, native had her average jump to 18.5 points per game, good for fourth in the SBC. She scored in double figures in 13 of 14 SBC games and had all five of her 20-plus point games inside conference play. She closed the regular season with a career-high 27 points on 12-of-17 shooting vs. Georgia State on Saturday. She tallied 26 points twice, doing so at Texas State on Feb. 12 and vs. South Alabama on Jan. 13. She has led ULM in scoring 16 times this season while also leading the Warhawks in assists six times.
Whittington is the first Warhawk women's basketball player to earn an All-Conference nod since Arsula Clark was Third-Team All-SBC following the 2018-19 season. Teammate and sophomore
Gara Beth Self was named SBC Freshman of the Year following the 2019-20 season.
ULM faces Little Rock in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida.
