MONROE, La. - The ULM Warhawks play five of the final seven regular season games at home, starting at 2 p.m. Saturday against Little Rock at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The first meeting with Little Rock was canceled on Jan. 6 due to COVID-19 concerns with the Trojan program. ULM's Thursday night game vs. Arkansas State was postponed to 5 p.m. Monday due to a leak in the roof of Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Saturday's game will air on ESPN+ with Chris Harris (play-by-play) and Mike Vining (analyst) on the call. The game will also be broadcast on 105.7 FM/540 AM KMLB, KMLB.com and the TuneIn app on the Warhawk Radio Network from Learfield with
Mike Hammett on the play-by-play.
Saturday's game marks the 37th all-time meeting between ULM and Little Rock, with the Trojans leading the series, 32-4. The Warhawks snapped a 19-game losing streak in the series with a 62-44 win in the final meeting last season in Monroe, 62-44, on Feb. 22, 2021. It was ULM's first victory in the series since Jan. 12, 2012. The Warhawks have not won in Little Rock since a 56-53 win in a non-conference game on Dec. 18, 2005, a streak of 15 games.
Second-year freshman
Kyren Whittington continues to have a breakout season. She paced the Warhawks with 17 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block on Saturday against the Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette. She ranks eighth in the SBC at 13.3 points per game on the season. Inside SBC play, she is averaging 16.3 points per game, which ranks fifth in the SBC.
With a large group of fans in the stands, true freshman
Katlyn Manuel had a solid performance in Lafayette on Saturday. She came a point shy of her second double-double of the season with nine points and 10 rebounds. It marks the third time this season, and first time in SBC play, that she has pulled in at least 10 rebounds. She leads the Warhawks with 5.7 rebounds per game.
True freshman
Amaya Ford came off the bench to score nine points on 4-of-7 shooting on Saturday in Lafayette. Seven of her nine points came in the second quarter, including her first career made 3-pointer. She had attempted just one 3-pointer prior to Saturday's game, where she attempted a trio of treys.
Little Rock is 9-8 overall and 4-3 in the Sun Belt Conference after Thursday's 51-50 win over the Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette. The Trojans are 3-0 on the road in Sun Belt Conference play against a 1-3 mark at home.
Sali Kourouma is one of the top newcomers in the SBC, averaging 17.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game to lead the Trojans. She ranks third in the SBC in scoring. She has scored in double figures 12 times, topped 20 points six times, and cleared 30 or more points twice, including a season-high 32 points and 10 rebounds vs. Memphis on Nov. 18.
Raziya Potter is averaging right at 10 points per game while adding 1.9 rebounds per contest to help pace the Trojans. Krystan Vornes trails right behind at 9.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Vornes has not played in the last five games.
Mayra Caicedo is one of the top point guards in the SBC, averaging 6.8 points and 5.0 assists per game, which is second in the SBC.
Saturday's contest is the final scheduled meeting between ULM and Little Rock inside SBC play as the Trojans announced a move to the Ohio Valley Conference effective July 1, 2022.
