2022 ULM Football Schedule

MONROE, La. –
Five home games, including the Sun Belt Conference opener against West Division rival Ragin' Cajuns as well as East Division title contender Coastal Carolina and league-newcomer Southern Miss, along with non-conference road games at Texas, Alabama and Army highlight ULM's 2022 12-game football schedule, which was announced on Tuesday, March 1.

Six of ULM's 12 opponents produced winning records last season, including five postseason bowl participants and two teams that finished ranked in the final Associated Press Top 25: No. 2 Alabama (13-2) and the No. 16 Ragin' Cajuns (13-1).

In 2022, each Sun Belt program will play eight conference games, including six against division rivals and two against teams from the opposite division. The Sun Belt East Division includes App State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, James Madison, Marshall and Old Dominion while the league's West Division features Arkansas State, the Ragin' Cajuns, ULM, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State and Troy.

"This is another demanding schedule, but as I've stated before, with great challenges, come great opportunities," Bowden said. "With the way last season ended, I can assure you this team will enter the 2022 season with a chip on its shoulder.

"The road games on our non-conference schedule will provide outstanding exposure for our ULM football program. Our returning nucleus of players along with our newcomers are excited about those opportunities to perform on the big stage."

ULM opens its second season under head coach Terry Bowden on the road at Texas on Saturday, Sept. 3. It marks the Warhawks' second-ever trip to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and their first since 2009.

The home opener is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10 against Nicholls. ULM will not play consecutive home games in Malone Stadium for the first time since the 2017 season.

In Week 3, ULM travels to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to face College Football Playoff National Championship Game participant Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Warhawks are 1-2 in their previous three visits to Bryant-Denny Stadium, including a 21-14 victory over Nick Saban's first Crimson Tide team on Nov. 17, 2007.

Next, ULM returns to Malone Stadium to battle the defending Sun Belt Conference Champion Ragin' Cajuns on Saturday, Sept. 24. Four of the last five meetings in the series have been decided by six points or less.

The Warhawks will play three of its four games in October on the road, beginning at Arkansas State on Saturday, Oct. 1 before returning to Malone Stadium for a showdown against Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 8. ULM travels to South Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 15 before concluding its non-conference schedule at Army on Saturday, Oct. 22. It will mark the Warhawks' second trip to Michie Stadium in three years, as ULM faced the Black Knights in the 2020 season opener.

Following a bye week, ULM opens the final month of the Sun Belt schedule at home against Texas State on Saturday, Nov. 5 before a pair of road games at Georgia State (Saturday, Nov. 12) and at Troy (Saturday, Nov. 19). The Warhawks will welcome league-newcomer Southern Miss to Malone Stadium for the regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 26.

"With only five home games on the schedule, it's vital that we create a true home-field advantage. So, I hope our alumni, fans, student body, faculty and local communities embrace this team and purchase season tickets. Our fans should immediately circle those five dates on their calendars because we will need them as our 12th man in Malone Stadium.

"As we continue to build this program, our goal remains to be playing our best football in meaningful games late in the season. We believe in the adage, 'November is for contenders.'"
