ULM Beach Volleyball Drops Matches to Arizona State & No. 3 TCU Saturday

FORT WORTH, Texas – The ULM beach volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday during Day 2 at Fight in the Fort, falling to Arizona State, 5-0, and No. 3 TCU, 5-0.
 
The Warhawks finished the tournament with a 1-3 record, including Friday's 5-0 sweep over SFA.
 
ULM (5-10) returns to action March 26-27 at the LSU Beach Invitational. The Warhawks will open the tournament with consecutive matches against undefeated, ranked opponents with rematches against TCU (19-0) and host LSU (15-0). Those two teams are a combined 34-0 this season. On Day 2, ULM will face Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Tampa.

Arizona State (9-6) did not lose a set en route to sweeping ULM, 5-0.
 
The Sun Devils' No. 5 pairing of Maddy Salazar and Kylie Wickley opened the match with a 21-12, 21-14 victory over Abbey Bufkin and Abigail Elder. The No. 4 duo of Taryn Ames and Kate Fitzgerald followed with a 21-16, 21-14 win over Kaitlyn Nowak and Madison Gray, and ASU's third flight of Sarah Waters and Lila Bordis clinched the match with a 21-9, 21-12 triumph over Elizabeth Moreland and Brooke Hoven.
 
The Sand Devils completed the sweep as the No. 2 tandem of Rylie Kael and Anya Pemberton outlasted Kayla Gallant and Rylin Adams, 21-17, 21-18, and the No. 1 pairing of Lexi Sweeney and Cierra Flood defeated Audrey Brooks and Julia Blazek, 21-19, 21-11.

Third-ranked TCU improved its record to 19-0 by recording its ninth sweep of the season with a 5-0 win over ULM. The Horn Frogs dropped only one set to the Warhawks.
 
Playing together for the first time, the No. 5 tandem of Rochelle Scott and Peyton Yamagata opened the afternoon match with a 21-15, 21-13 victory over Bufkin and Elder. Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara followed with a 21-12, 21-8 win over Nowak and Gary at the fourth flight, and TCU's No. 1 pairing of Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno clinched the match with a 21-9, 21-18 victory over Brooks and Blazek.
 
The Frogs secured the sweep as the second flight of Sutton MacTavish and Hailey Hamlett defeated Gallant and Adams by identical scores of 21-13, 21-13, and the No. 3 duo of Alexis Filippone and Hailey Brockett posted a three-set victory over Moreland and Hoven, 21-11, 21-23, 15-11.
