MONROE, La. – The ULM softball team took the series with its second win over Texas State Saturday, but fell in Sunday's finale 4-1 at the ULM Softball Complex.
 
"I think our team got a little complacent and we had a lot of opportunities and a lot of empty at-bats," said ULM head coach Molly Fichtner. "Victoria (Abrams) gave us a really good start – she was dominating in those first three innings. They had that one big hit with the bases loaded and we didn't have that."
 
Warhawk Alexis Chavez, who went 2-for-4 on the day, led off the game with a double, moved to third on a Korie Kreps' sacrifice ground out and scored during a run down.
 
Texas State strung together three singles to load the bases in the fourth inning and Anna Jones doubled to plate three runs. The Bobcats held a 3-1 lead until they added another run at the top of the sixth. Cat Crenek's second hit of the day got her on base and she moved to scoring position on a ground out. A Warhawk error allowed Crenek to score the unearned run for the 4-1 final.
 
Victoria Abrams (6-4) took the loss for ULM, giving up three earned runs and five hits while striking out five in 3.1 innings pitched. Adrianna Chavarria worked 3.2 innings in relief with one strikeout. She allowed one hit and one unearned run was scored during her appearance.
 
ULM heads to Coastal Carolina for a three-game Sun Belt series with the schedule adjusted for Easter weekend. The Warhawks and Chanticleers will play Thursday-Saturday, April 14-16 with all three games on ESPN+.
