BATON ROUGE, La. – Eleven athletes placed inside the Top 3 for the ULM Track and Field team at the Battle on the Bayou Saturday at LSU.
The day was highlighted by three first-place finishers in
Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi,
Bailey Couch and
Ali Eren Unlu. Mbuyi took her third consecutive triple jump title in the outdoor season with a jump of 42-2. On the men's side, Couch won the javelin with a throw of 206-10. Unlu won the high jump, clearing 6-8 1/4.
Hannah Blood claimed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 182-9, while
Amanda Radava was second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.61. Also for the women,
Alivia Busch was third in the shot put at 46-9 1/2,
Brianna Sam was third in the hammer at 178-5, and
Fiebe Tengrootenhuysen was third in the 400 meters in 54.96.
For the men,
Riley Finnegan claimed second in the discus with a heave of 162-11.
Cole Burgess was third in the pole vault, clearing 15-5 3/4.
Joseph McEvoy claimed third in the high jump at 6-4 1/4.
Other highlights on the day included
Stephen Mengich setting a personal best in the 1500 in 3:50.83, placing fourth. He followed it up with a fourth-place finish in the 800 in 1:51.95.
The Warhawks return to competition on Friday and Saturday at Ole Miss' Joe Walker Invite.
