HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Second-seeded and 13th-ranked FIU picked up a 5-0 win over seventh-seeded ULM in the opening round of the 2022 Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship Thursday morning at John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex.
FIU posted four sweeps on its way to the win.
The Golden Panthers started off with a sweep on court one, as Paige Kalkhoff and Giada Bianchi defeated
Audrey Brooks and
Kayla Gallant, 21-13, 21-10. On court three, Emily Meyer and Zuza Bialek put FIU up 2-0 with a 21-13, 21-17 win over
Elizabeth Moreland and
Brooke Hoven. FIU sealed the win on court four as Kendall Mather and Lisa Luini won over
Kaitlyn Nowak and
Avery Reynolds, 21-8, 21-13.
FIU picked up its final sweep on court two as Roberta Ribeiro and Rocky Mancinelli knocked off
Julia Blazek and
Rylin Adams, 26-24, 21-14. The match concluded on court five as Gina Lipscomb and Anna Davis were pushed to three sets before winning over
Abigail Elder and
Abbey Bufkin, 21-12, 16-21, 15-10.
