ARLINGTON, Texas – ULM softball took an early lead 1-0 vs. UT Arlington Sunday at Allan Saxe Field, but the Mavericks staged a fifth-inning rally to come away with the 2-1 win. A two-out double plated both runs in the winning effort for the Mavs after senior outfielder Korie Kreps hit her first home run for the season in the first inning.
 
"One run is not going to be enough, and it's not going to be enough for a lot of our games," said ULM head coach Molly Fichtner. "We can't rely on one run. We have to get more run production and our offense has to get better. Kinsey did a heck of a job and she put us in a position to be successful. We had some incredible defensive plays as well."
 
Kreps put the Warhawks up 1-0 with a solo home run. ULM's other hit came off the bat of lead-off hitter Alexis Chavez.
 
UT Arlington compiled five runs, using stringing together three in the fifth inning to score two runs. ULM recorded two outs after back-to-back singles by Courtney Ogle and Meagan Smith put two Maverick runners on. Jessica Carreon brought them both home with her double to left field.
 
The win went to Jessica Adams (9-9) and the loss to Kinsey Kackley (5-4). Adams allowed two hits, one earned run and struck out five in her complete game. Kackley scattered five hits in six innings with three coming in UTA's (15-14, 6-6) decisive fifth inning.
