Rhi Ockwell, a 6-1 forward from Victoria, Australia, is transferring to the Warhawks after spending one season with the Lady Techsters.
"We are excited to welcome Rhi to Monroe," Williams said. "We welcome her physicality and toughness. She is a high motor player and has a competitive personality that is infectious. She can stretch the defense with her ability to shoot the three and can score creatively in a variety of ways. She has a nose for the ball and has the ability to rebound out of her area. Rhi will be a great addition to our frontcourt."
Playing behind All-Conference USA forward Anna Larr Roberson, who was a leader for the Techsters in rebounding and scoring, Ockwell appeared in six games for the Techsters making her debut against Jarvis Christian.
Prior to landing in Ruston, Ockwell averaged 16.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game and led Box Hill to the 2017 Intermediate Australian School Championship gold medal.
"I loved the team chemistry and the positive, hard-working environment," Ockwell said. "I can't wait to get started."
Ockwell led the program to the 2019 Champions Cup State Championships and the Senior Australian School Championship gold medal.
In 2021, Ockwell played representative basketball for the Knox Raiders, which is a member of the NBL1 South, and averaged 18.2 ppg on their Senior Raider team. Ockwell helped her Junior Raider team finish as the runner up at the Victorian Championship Final in 2019.
Ockwell played Australian Rules Football during the 2018-2019 season. Ockwell's father, Adam Ockwell, played semi-professional football for Bayswater from 1982-1999.
"Rhi brings a dynamic we don't have," Williams said. "She has a toughness that we need and has a personality we just don't have. I have no doubt her experiences at Tech and prior will help her impact our program right away. I am looking forward to getting her down I-20."
