MONROE, La. – Ashley Washburn's goal in the 87th minute lifted ULM to a 2-1 win over Southern Tuesday night at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
The freshman from Conroe, Texas, scored her fourth goal of the season in the 87th minute, finding the upper left corner of the net, to break a 1-1 deadlock and give the Warhawks (5-0-1 overall) their third consecutive victory.
Southern tied the match early in the second half. In the 47th minute, Lonnie Mulligan scored off an assist by Iyanla Bailey-Williams to bring the Jaguars level, 1-1.
ULM went on top in the first half when
Paula Guba notched her first goal of the season, thanks to an assist from
Inge Konst, to lead 1-0.
The Warhawks had 17 shots, with eight on goal, to 13 for Southern, with five shots on frame.
Mickaela Leal had four saves for ULM. Sydney Bellamy made six saves for Southern.
Konst led ULM with four shots, putting three on goal.
ULM returns to Brown Stadium at 7 p.m. Friday to face Texas Southern. Admission is $5. The match will air on ESPN+.
