THE TIPOFF –
• Fresh off its 73-71 victory at Coastal Carolina last Saturday, ULM (6-9, 2-2) resumes its four-game Sun Belt Conference road trip at Troy (8-7, 3-1) on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. The Warhawks' two-point win at Coastal ended a 22-game road losing skid (tied with Bellarmine for the nation's second-longest streak), including 19 straight in conference play.

ULM is seeking back-to-back Sun Belt road wins for the first time since the 2012-13 season (defeated Florida Atlantic, 90-86, on Jan. 30, 2013, and FIU, 71-61, on Feb. 2, 2013).

At 2-2, the Warhawks are off to their best start in league play since opening the 2013-14 campaign (head coach Mona Martin's last season) with a 3-1 record.

• Thursday's game marks the 28th meeting between ULM and Troy. The Warhawks lead the all-time series, 14-13, including a 5-7 record in games played in Troy, Alabama. The Trojans have won eight in a row in the series, including an 89-57 victory over ULM at Trojan Arena on Jan. 15, 2022. ULM's last win in the series came on Jan. 21, 2016, 77-73, in Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The Warhawks have dropped the last six games at Trojan Arena, with their last road win coming on Jan. 16, 2014, 83-72.

• ULM graduate center Emma Merriweather, who recorded back-to-back double-doubles as the Warhawks earned a road split against Old Dominion and Coastal Carolina, was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, as selected by the league's head coaches and communications directors.

The 6-foot-5 Merriweather averaged 13.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game during the two-game road trip while shooting 61 percent (11-of-18) from the field.

She posted her second-straight double-double on the road trip and fourth of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in ULM's 73-71 victory at Coastal Carolina Saturday, as the Warhawks ended a 22-game road losing skid (tied with Bellarmine for the nation's second-longest streak), including 19 straight in conference play. It marked ULM's first Sun Belt road win since defeating Texas State, 58-55, on Jan. 16, 2020. Merriweather also matched her season high with four blocked shots and set a career high with four steals against the Chanticleers.

A native of Buena Park, California, Merriweather scored a game-high 16 points and collected 14 rebounds (five offensive boards) in a 63-49 loss at ODU. She connected on 7-of-10 attempts from the field while contributing three blocked shots and two steals.

Merriweather ranks as ULM's leading rebounder (8.1 rpg.) and second-leading scorer (8.3 ppg.). On a minutes-played basis, those statistics are equivalent to 17.2 points, 16.7 rebounds and 4.1 blocked shots per game.

She ranks among the Sun Belt's Top Five in four different statistical categories: first in blocked shots (2.0 per game), second in offensive rebounding (3.5 pg.), second in field-goal percentage (.582) and five in overall rebounding (8.1 pg.). Her 28 blocked shots rank No. 28 in NCAA Division I.

She matched her season high with 18 points (8-of-15 FG shooting) to go along with seven rebounds in ULM's 73-71 road win at Coastal Carolina, hitting a pair of free throws with 4.5 seconds left to break a 71-all tie.

Brimzy recorded her first career double-double against Champion Christian, finishing with 13 points and a career-best 10 rebounds. She also scored 18 points in the opener against Louisiana Christian.
