Former NLU Basketball Great Eugene "Lollie" Robinson Dies

MONROE, La. – Former ULM men's basketball player Eugene "Lollie" Robinson died Monday, October 9. A native of Bastrop, Louisiana, Robinson was an All-Trans America Athletic Conference player for legendary Northeast Louisiana University men's basketball coach Lenny Fant from 1977-80.
 
He capped his career in 1980 by nearly averaging a double-double at 12.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while adding 49 blocks. As a junior in 1978-79, he was second on the team at 10.4 rebounds per game and third on the club at 11.3 points per game while helping NLU to a 23-6 record. As a sophomore in 1977-78, Robinson averaged 4.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
 
Current ULM head coach Keith Richard played alongside Robinson for two seasons from 1978-80.
 
Robinson was a fourth-round pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1979 NBA Draft and played his senior season before signing his contract.
 
Visitation is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Saturday, October 14th, at New Jerusalem #2 Baptist Church in Bastrop. A celebration of life service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Morehouse Baptist Association Center.
