LAKE CHARLES, La. – Nunu Bradford added another 30-point game to her 2023-2024 season as the ULM women's basketball team secured a 73-67 victory over Milwaukee Thursday afternoon at the Legacy Center on the first day of the McNeese Multi-Team Event.
Bradford's final stat line included a career-high 33 points along with eight rebounds and four assists.
Katlyn Manuel was the only other double-digit scorer for ULM with a career-high 23 points and nine rebounds. She also had three blocks in the game.
In the first quarter, two 3-pointers from Bradford put the Warhawks up 8-6. The Panthers used an 8-0 run to take a six-point lead. ULM used five points in the final 1:30 to narrow the gap to three at the end of one quarter.
With the score at 23-19 in favor of the Panthers midway through the second quarter, ULM scored five straight points to take the lead. Milwaukee set the lead back to four at 28-24, but a pair of free throws and two layups by Manuel and
Olivia Knight gave the Warhawks a one-point halftime lead.
The Warhawks didn't let the lead falter in quarter three. With a 36-33 lead, they produced a 6-0 run to increase the lead to nine. ULM led by as much as 10, 48-38. The quarter ended with a stable nine-point lead.
Bradford took matters into her own hands. Within the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, she produced a pair of treys as well as a layup plus a free throw for a three-point play.
Sania Wells cashed in on a 3-pointer to give the Warhawks a commanding 14-point cushion.
Milwaukee wasn't done yet as it fought the game back to a four-point deficit. But after three free throws by Bradford, the game was all but over as the Warhawks clinched a six-point win.
The Warhawks return to action on Friday when they take on Mississippi Valley State at 4 p.m.
