MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama scored 30 of the final 40 points of the first half and rolled to an 81-45 Senior Day win over ULM Saturday at the Mitchell Center.
The Jaguars (15-14 overall, 8-8 Sun Belt Conference) have won seven of their last eight games. ULM (11-18, 7-9) has dropped five straight games.
ULM took an early 10-4 lead behind 3-pointers from
Tyreke Locure and
Langston Powell. Starting with a 3-pointer by Greg Parham II, South Alabama caught fire and did not relent. The Jaguars made 14 consecutive field-goal attempts as a team covering a span of 11 minutes and 41 seconds. South Alabama built a 44-20 halftime lead, which stretched to as much as 39 points in the second half.
Tyreke Locure led ULM with 12 points in his return to the Mitchell Center after playing for South Alabama from 2019-21. All 10 Warhawks that played in the game scored at least two points. Parham led four Jaguars in double figures with 19 points and added five assists.
South Alabama shot 56% (32-of-57) from the field, including 68% (17-of-25) in the first half. The Jaguars shot 50% (13-of-26) from 3-point range and made 4-of-5 free-throw attempts. ULM shot a season-low 25% (15-of-60) from the field and hit 17% (4-of-23) from behind the 3-point line while making 11-of-16 (69%) free-throw attempts. USA outrebounded ULM, 38-33, but the Warhawks had 15 offensive rebounds. ULM committed just four turnovers.
The Warhawks open the final week of the regular season at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday against Troy at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
