HOUSTON – ULM lost Saturday's tennis dual at Houston, 6-1, at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
 
Houston won the doubles point to open the match. Elena Trencheva and Sophie Schouten defeated ULM's Alessandra Anghel and Angela Del Campo Suarez, 6-1, on court one, while Azul Pedemonti and Sonya Kovalenko topped Mackenzie King and Alice Klinteby on court three, 6-2.
 
In singles play, Pedemonti pushed the lead to 2-0 for the Cougars on court three, defeating Klinteby, 6-1, 6-3. The lead moved to 3-0 on court two as Laura Slisane knocked off Oleksandra Balaba, 6-2, 6-2. Houston clinched the dual on court five, where Gabriela Cortes won over Giovanna Pereira, 6-1, 6-1. On court six, Sonya Kovalenko won over Mariam Hatem, 6-4, 6-3. ULM won its only point on court four as Del Campo Suarez rallied to down Blanca Cortijo Parreno, 6-0, 3-6, 10-5. Houston took the final match on court one where Maria Dzemeshkevich defeated Anghel, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.
 
ULM is now off until starting Sun Belt Conference play at Marshall on March 11.
