MONROE, La. – ULM senior guard
Jamari Blackmon has been named a First-Team All-District 23 selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
Blackmon finished the regular season averaging 13.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. In SBC action, the numbers jumped to 15.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He was eighth in the SBC in scoring in conference games, while ranking third in three-point field-goals made (43, 2.39 per game), fourth in minutes played (36.56) and fourth in free-throw percentage (.841).
He scored in double figures 20 times, with 13 of those efforts coming in SBC action or the SBC Championship. He topped 20 points five times and 30 points twice, all in conference play. He scored a career-high 35 points twice, doing so in ULM's upset of Marshall on Jan. 26 and again a week later at home against Coastal Carolina on Feb. 2, where he hit 5-of-7 3-point field goal attempts. Against Marshall, he hit 8-of-15 3-point field-goal attempts, including his final five attempts of the night, while playing all 50 minutes of the double overtime win.
He also scored 25 points at Arkansas State (6-of-8 3-pointers) on Dec. 31, 24 points vs. Texas State on Jan. 14 and 23 points vs. South Alabama on Feb. 4. He often drew the assignment of guarding the opposition's best player on the defensive end.
