ULM Drops Saturday Game to ODU, 13-1

MONROE, La. – Old Dominion scored in each of the first five innings and cruised to a 13-1 win over ULM Saturday afternoon at Lou St. Amant Field.
 
The Monarchs (17-2 overall, 2-0 Sun Belt Conference) pounded out 15 hits, eight for extra bases, and scored four runs in both the fifth and seventh innings. Luke Waters had four hits, including two doubles and a triple, with an RBI and four runs scored. Camden Grimes hit a solo home run and an RBI double among his three hits and scored twice. Chris Dengler had three hits, with a double an RBI and two runs scored from the ninth spot in the order. Robbie O'Neal belted a 2-run home run while Hunter Fitz-Gerald walked three times and had two RBIs.
 
ULM (7-13 overall, 0-2 Sun Belt Conference) had hits from seven different players. Riley Davis hit an RBI double in the fourth inning for the Warhawks' only run of the game, plating Davis Meche.
 
Sam Armstrong (4-0) earned the win for ODU, throwing 5 2/3 innings in the start, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Cole Cressend (1-4) suffered the loss for ULM, allowing three runs on two hits with three walks, pitching into the second inning, but did not record an out in the frame.
 
The series concludes at 11 a.m. Sunday at Lou St. Amant Field.
