MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team lost Saturday's Sun Belt Conference dual to the Ragin' Cajuns, 5-2, at Heard Stadium.
The Cajuns claimed the doubles point to open the match. ULM struck first in doubles, as
Alice Klinteby and
Giovanna Pereira defeated Lucie Raquin and Cristina Tchanichev, 6-1, on court three. The Cajuns tied the point on court one where Carla Urchoeguia and Angelique Berrat won over
Alessandra Anghel and
Angela Del Campo Suarez, 6-3. The Cajuns claimed the doubles point on court two as Angel Santiago and Momoko Yoshimura earned a 6-3 victory over
Oleksandra Balaba and
Mariam Hatem.
ULM tied the match at one at No. 1 singles, where Anghel downed Urchoeguia, 6-1, 6-2. The Cajuns answered back at No. 5, as Yoshimura defeated Pereira, 6-2, 6-3. The lead moved to 3-1 at No. 4, as Tchanichev won over Del Campo Suarez, 6-1, 6-4. ULM pulled back within a point at 3-2 as Klinteby knocked off Berrat, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3. However, the Cajuns sealed the win at No. 6, as Santiago held off Hatem, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5. The Cajuns picked up the final point at No. 2 where Raquin earned a victory over Balaba, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-2.
ULM visits Arkansas State for a dual at 12 p.m. Saturday.
