Warhawks Swept at Georgia Southern Sunday

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern continued to swing hot bats on Sunday, scoring three-or-more runs in four of six offensive innings, to pick up a 15-3 run-rule win over ULM in seven innings to sweep the series at J. I. Clements Stadium. The Eagles scored all 15 of their runs with two outs in the inning.
 
Georgia Southern (23-21 overall, 13-8 Sun Belt Conference) had 15 hits on the day. Corey Dowdell paced Georgia Southern with his first four-hit day, adding six RBIs with a grand slam and three runs scored. JD Kaiser and Jesse Sherrill had three hits each.
 
Riley Davis and Jarrett McDonald had two hits each at the plate for ULM (15-29, 5-15). Travis Washburn's second inning single and subsequent three-base error by left fielder JP Tighe allowed all three Warhawk runs to score.
 
Ga'von Wray (3-2) threw three shutout innings with two hits, one walk and three strikeouts for the win for Georgia Southern. Chipper Menard (2-5) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs, four earned, on six hits with two walks over 2 2/3 innings.
 
ULM opens a stretch of seven home games in eight contests at 6 p.m. Wednesday against Alcorn at Lou St. Amant Field.
