NATCHITOCHES, La. – The ULM volleyball team ended the Battle For The Boot Tournament getting swept by the host team, Northwestern State, 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-10), Saturday at Prather Coliseum.
With the Warhawks leading 5-4 in the first set, the Demons used a 5-0 scoring run to take the lead. The set was full of such runs. ULM used a 5-1 run to tie the game at 13 before Northwestern State had a 4-0 run to take the lead back. The Warhawks responded with a 6-1 scoring run to retake control. The Demons scored seven out of the last eight points to take the set.
In set two, Northwestern State started fast with a 5-2 lead. Trailing by five, the Warhawks went on a 7-1 scoring run to take the lead. This lead didn't last long as the Demons used a 7-2 run to reestablish control. Northwestern State used a final 4-0 scoring run to take set two.
In the third set, the Demons raced out to a 12-3 lead and didn't look back. They won the set by 15 points.
Ariana Brown continues her impressive freshman campaign with a team-leading nine kills.
Bailey Roberson had 16 assists and
Cameron Rogers had 13 digs.
The Warhawks return to play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when they visit McNeese. It's the last game of the non-conference slate for ULM with a duo of matches against Sun Belt Conference foe Texas State coming up on Thursday and Friday.
