Warhawk Soccer Shuts Down Cajuns Sunday, 1-0

LAFAYETTE, La. – Skylar Blaise headed in a goal in the 54th minute and the ULM defense limited the Ragin' Cajuns to just five shots, with only one on goal, to pick up a 1-0 win over the Cajuns Sunday afternoon at Home Bank Track & Soccer Facility.

With neither team able to break the scoreless stalemate through 53 minutes, ULM was awarded a corner kick. Mara Grutkamp sent the ball along the ground to Lena Göppel, who was high above the 18-yard box on the right side. Göppel sent a lob into the box, where Inge Konst was able to get her head on the ball to knock it over to Blaise, who used her head to send the ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Göppel and Konst earned assists on the goal.

The Cajuns put its only shot on net for the match in the 61st minute, but Sophie Placke's shot was stopped by ULM goalkeeper Alexa Castro.
