NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Six athletes of the ULM track & field team earned top-10 finishes on the first day of the Vanderbilt Invitational inside the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility in Nashville, Tenn.
Olaia Becerril Alvarez (5th place, long jump) and
Sydney Lake (9th place, weight throw) earned spots in the top 10 of their individual field events. Alvarez brought home fifth place in the long jump with a result of 5.99 while Lake recorded a throw of 15.40 for ninth place. On the men's side,
Oscar Prieto claimed a spot on the podium with a 4.93 mark in the pole vault invite event. His teammate,
Dylan German, registered a fourth-place finish in the open division with a result of 4.47. Freshman
Stafon Roach finished fifth in the long jump with a 7.26 while
Chase Gunn crossed the finish line eighth in the 5000m race with a time of 14:49.64. The men's distance medley relay team ofÂ

Carlo Martinez Jaramillo logged a time of 10:25.25 for ninth place.
