NASHVILLE, Tenn. --Â ULM track & field athletes
Stafon Roach and
Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi shined in the triple jump and highlighted the top performances for the Warhawks at the Vanderbilt Invitational inside the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility in Nashville, Tenn.
Roach won first place in the triple jump for the second consecutive week with a mark of 15.40. Roach topped all triple jumpers at the LSU Purple Tiger last week with a leap of 15.46. Ilunga Mbuyi, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, brought home second-place honors with a jump of 12.84.
Brianna Washington secured a top-10 finish in the triple jump with a result of 13.30.
Other Warhawks who placed in the top-10 on the second day of competition included
Claudine Raud-Gumiel (60m hurdles),
Kimone Campbell (800m),
Darshon Turk (60m hurdles),
J'Marcus Sewell (60m),
Devin Bilbo (60m hurdles - prelims), and
Blake Stevens (shot put). The men's 4x400 relay team of
Juwan Blignaut,
Reid Guirlando,
Rojs Puks and
Chase Gunn capped off the event with a sixth-place finish, crossing the finish line at 3:16.44.
The ULM track & field team is back in action on Feb. 2 at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
