MONROE, La. – The ULM women's tennis team (1-0) kicked off the spring season on Friday (Jan. 26) with a 5-2 victory over LSU Shreveport at Heard Stadium in Monroe, La.

The Warhawks captured the doubles point after
Angela Del Campo Suarez and
Tamara Bachmann won doubles flight #1 6-3 and
Alice Klinteby and
Giovanna Pereira took flight #2, 6-3. ULM won four of the six singles matches versus the Pilots. Klinteby claimed the second set in #1 singles 6-1 after falling in set one, but dropped the deciding set, 6-4. In #2 singles,
Mariam Hatem forced a tiebreaker in the final set and fell narrowly, 7-4, to her opponent. After falling 6-4 in set one, Del Campo Suarez cruised 6-0, 6-0 in the final two sets in #3 singles. Pereira won in straight sets (6-1, 6-3) in #4 singles while Bachmann recorded a 6-3, 7-5 victory in #5 singles.
Raquel Alvaro won 6-3, 6-2 in #6 singles to cap off the 5-2 win for ULM.

The ULM tennis team is back in action at Heard Stadium tomorrow (Jan. 27) at 11 a.m. to take on Stephen F. Austin.
